HANSENS PLUMBING & MECHANICAL – SLAB LEAK DETECTION DIVISION
Leaking pipes inside or underneath the concrete of a house’s floor or foundation are called “slab leaks.” Common signs of this type of leak are:
Moist, wet, hot, or damp spots/stains on flooring or carpeting
Water coming through the foundation
Sudden settling of the foundation
Low water pressure
A noticeable increase in your water bill
Slab leaks occur in the copper piping system that is installed under the slab of a house. Leaks can cause a large amount of damage to the foundation. Slab leaks will continuously flow unless you shut off the water supply.
A common answer to the slab leak is to reroute the line and abandon the failed line in the slab or completely reroute the entire system out of the slab. If the line (s) cannot be rerouted, Hansen’s Plumbing uses state-of-the-art locating equipment to pinpoint the location of your leak and repair it.

Common causes of Slab Leaks:
- Failed pressure regulator.
- Velocity of water. Note: caused by failed regulator and/or under sized piping.
- Electrolysis. Caused by dissimilar metals, poor electrical grounding and in some cases soil.
- Properly working regulator with no thermal expansion tank.
- Expired copper piping.
