A Healthier Alternative To Bottled Water
The importance of drinking water is well known, however, the odor or taste of tap water doesn’t sit well with most people and bottled water can get very expensive, very quickly. A recent survey of the bottled water providers here in Ventura County show that, on average, a family of four will spend a little over $50 a month to have filtered water delivered to their home. That’s over $600 a year! Tap water often contains sediment, bacteria and other viruses making it necessary to purify the water before drinking. Store bought water filters are not rated to handle all the contaminates found in our water and, in some cases, actually add contaminates to the water. This counteracts many of the benefits of drinking water.
This is why Hansen’s Plumbing & Mechanical recommends Reverse Osmosis filtration as your most cost effective answer to giving you the highest quality drinking and cooking water available.
Reverse Osmosis Filtration
Reverse Osmosis (R.O.) was developed in the late 1950s as a method of desalinating sea water. Today, R.O. has become the most convenient and complete method to filter water. It is used in most water bottling plants and by companies that require ultra-refined water in manufacturing. This advanced technology is now available for your home or office for drinking water filtration. A R.O. water filtration unit protects you from the harmful effects of lead, heavy metals, chlorine, chemical contaminants, pesticides, pathogens, bacteria, virus, and even radioactive materials.
R.O. filters water by pushing water through a semi-permeable membrane, which is rated at 0.0001 micron - equal to 0.00000004 inch! Non-R.O. water filters are much less effective, and the pore size on these filters are much bigger, generally 0.5 - 10 micron. They can filter out coarse particles, sediments and elements only up to their micron rating. Anything finer, including most dissolved substances, cannot be filtered out. As a result, the water is far less clean and safe compared to R.O. filtration.
What Contaminants Does A Reverse Osmosis Filtration System Remove?
Below is a list of contaminates found in most tap water systems. By installing a R.O. filtration unit, you’ll be removing these unhealthy contaminates from your drinking water.
